For my lesson plan, I would be using Ralph Waldo Emerson’s Self Reliance. Emerson is I would focus on 5th -6th-grade students who’re about to enter middle school. Naturalist

For my final project I’ve decided to research and focus on the naturalist period. This period started in 1870 and lasted until 1910. Naturalism is a literary genre that started as a movement in the late nineteenth century in literature, film, theater, and art. It is a type of extreme realism. This movement suggested the roles of family, social conditions, and environment in shaping human character. Realism Period

I am interested in looking at realist literature. Realism was a literary and artistic movement that followed Romanticism. Realism is characterized by the choice of the everyday, the use of very typical and authentic settings, believable characters, and very relatable plot lines. Issues of class, money, gender, and geographic location often appear in these works. When reading works from this literary period, readers ca often sympathize with the characters as they are having problems that many people can relate to.
