Final Lesson Plan on The Roaring Twenties

Welcome back to our final lesson plan on the Roaring Twenties! Throughout this semester, Erin and I have focused on learning all about the Roaring Twenties and the ways in which we could teach this significant decade from American history to a fifth-grade class. While we initially looked into teaching “The Great Gatsby” by F. Scott Fitzgerald, it being one of the great classics from this time, we felt that it was too advanced of a reading for this age group. Therefore we decided to take another approach to the 1920s, using the literature “What Were the Roaring Twenties?” by … Continue reading Final Lesson Plan on The Roaring Twenties

Final Project!

Hi everyone! As we end this semester, my partner Kaitlynn Castro and I have finished our project on The Great Gatsby. Here, we are talking about how Gardner’s Multiple Intelligences connect with the story as well as the movie. We have provided some clip examples that can also be found in the book. The reason for this, is because we thought it would make a lot more sense to students if they had access to how the characters were feeling and what they were doing in the moment. It is true that books can express emotion more than movies can. … Continue reading Final Project!

Final Blog Post

Hi welcome to my fourth and final blog post! While doing my research for my final project, I thought it was so cool to see what America is like now, compared to what it was like one hundered years ago. We are entering the 20s of the 2000s which is so crazy seeing how much change one hundered years can bring. Throughout my research, however, I did come across some similarities between now and then too. For example, the idea of wealth in the world. It is not as simple as East egg and West egg, but there are very … Continue reading Final Blog Post

Hi everyone! As we end this semester, Marykate Gorham and I have finished our project on The Great Gatsby. Here, we are talking about how Gardner’s Multiple Intelligences connect with the story as well as the movie. We have provided some clip examples that can also be found in the book. Final Project

Hi welcome to our final project! Sydney and I will be discussing the childhood novel, “Blubber,” by Judy Blume. With our lesson plan, we will talk about the book and the deeper meaning. Our goal is for the students to find and understand the deeper meaning of the story. We will guide them by presenting them with a video explaining the multiple intelligences, which will help them identify what they are and engagement questions about the book. We hope the students are able to understand the novel and Gardner’s Multiple Intelligences by the end of our lesson plan! https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1cj-h1u4N22i3ULQjEM9XC9PAX-90YGDPw6yMBHW24Lg/edit#slide=id.p Madie’s … Continue reading Final Project

Final Blog Post.

Hello, and welcome back to my blog post! In my last blog post I talked about the teaching fifth and sixth graders about the Roaring 20s using the book, What Were the Roaring Twenties? by Michele Mortlock. The lesson plan my partner and I came up with was a powerpoint presentation to introduce what the Roaring 20s were, the assigned book, and finally to wrap this lesson together, a poster project included with a timeline. We will gear our teaching tool toward Gardner’s visual-spatial intelligence. This intelligence is great for learners that like to look at the pictures and watch … Continue reading Final Blog Post.

The Great Gatsby

As this century’s version of the Roaring 20s is vastly approaching, here is a recap on what our last blog post addressed! In our last blog post, we introduced the idea of teaching The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald to students at a middle and high school level. We chose the book because we thought it was a great representation of what the Roaring 20s looked like one hundred years ago. Although it does not address all the events that occurred during this time period, it does get a little more personal. Essentially, we chose this book because students … Continue reading The Great Gatsby

Third Blog Post

Hi everyone! Welcome back to my blog!  Madeline and I talk about a book named “Blubber’ by Judy Blume. In this book the author targets the common theme of bullying. This book is very significant to today’s society as bullying is a very common issue today. “Blubber” targets elementary school children in 4th and 5th grade. We think that a great way to teach students about this book would be through powerpoints, videos and comprehension questions. This project allows us to teach students a very valuable lesson in a fun and entertaining way. Teaching them this way will allow them … Continue reading Third Blog Post
