Final Lesson Plan on The Roaring Twenties

Welcome back to our final lesson plan on the Roaring Twenties! Throughout this semester, Erin and I have focused on learning all about the Roaring Twenties and the ways in which we could teach this significant decade from American history to a fifth-grade class. While we initially looked into teaching “The Great Gatsby” by F. Scott Fitzgerald, it being one of the great classics from this time, we felt that it was too advanced of a reading for this age group. Therefore we decided to take another approach to the 1920s, using the literature “What Were the Roaring Twenties?” by … Continue reading Final Lesson Plan on The Roaring Twenties

final blog post

Hi everyone and welcome to my final blog post! Throughout the entire process of this project I have learned a lot about what it takes to design a lesson plan as a teacher and the hard work that goes into doing so. I feel as if my partner and I have been very successful in creating a lesson around the Roaring Twenties that is going to be age appropriate for a fifth-grade class and will excite the students. At first it was quite challenging to take somewhat of advanced material and translate it into being taught to a younger audience, … Continue reading final blog post

Welcome to my final blog post! To recap and review, me and my partner Angela will be creating a lesson plan on how to teach second or third graders the importance of immigration. We will do this by using the book, All The Way To America by Dan Yaccarino. Our goal is that we hope other educators can also learn from this and grasp new ideas for their students as well. While researching this topic, Angela and I have come across things ourselves about immigration that we didn’t know were so important. We learned new things about it as our … Continue reading Final Blog Post

Final Project – The Civil Rights Movement

In our lesson, Ally and I created a teaching tool using a book, timeline, and photo journal. We will in begin with reading the book, The Bus Ride That Changed History written by Pamela Duncan. Starting off the lesson reading this book will give students a chance to be slowly brought into the difficult topics that are going to be brought up. After reading the book, we will have a discussion on what they thought of it, and if they had anything that stood out to them. Next after having the discussion, we are going to show a photo journal … Continue reading Final Project – The Civil Rights Movement

This experience has definitely helped me with skills that will help me as a future educator. Creating these blogs has helped me organize everything throughout the process. Some successes I discovered has been the use of a variety of databases to get multiple sources. The databases such as Jstor and Eric made it super easy to find credible sources. Through these databases, I found a very interesting article about Gardner’s Multiple intelligences. I learned a lot more about the intelligences and I found it to be very interesting and helpful to my project. Some challenges I faced were mostly having … Continue reading Final blog post

Blog Post 3

Hi, welcome to my 3rd blog post! During this project, I have learned a lot that will help me in my teaching career. Our research project was based off the famous book, “Blubber,” by Judy Blume, which taught students about bullying and the deeper meaning of not saying something when you see something wrong. Making this project off an elementary school book, such as “Blubber,” by Judy Blume, has taught me what it is like to make a lesson plan for students. I definitely learned what is like to create a lesson plan and what tools I can use to … Continue reading Blog Post 3

Fourth Blog Post

Hi guys, our project is finally coming to an end. Throughout this process, we had many successes. One in particular that Kelsey and I both completely agree on is our use of the Sacred Heart library research tab. This allowed us to collect information that was credible, reliable, and scholarly. This later helped us to create a lesson knowing that the information being taught to our students is credible. In addition, the sources guided us in appropriate yet effective ways to relay this information to young students. Along with successes, we also pulled off a breakthrough. However, this was toward … Continue reading Fourth Blog Post

An exciting discovery was manufacturing a successful lesson plan. When developing the lesson, it was in the best interests to try to make it efficient … Continue reading Third Blog Post

My Third Blog Post

Welcome to my 3rd blog post!  My partner and I are planning on using the book All the Way to America by Dan Yaccarino to teach a second or third grade class. We will portray this lesson through a lesson plan to teach our students about immigration. After reading this book the objective is that students will get the idea that all ancestors were not born in America. It would also be important for them to understand the severity and struggle that comes with immigrating from one country to another. I think that imigration is a great lesson to educate … Continue reading My Third Blog Post
