Hi guys, our project is finally coming to an end. Throughout this process, we had many successes. One in particular that Kelsey and I both completely agree on is our use of the Sacred Heart library research tab. This allowed us to collect information that was credible, reliable, and scholarly. This later helped us to create a lesson knowing that the information being taught to our students is credible. In addition, the sources guided us in appropriate yet effective ways to relay this information to young students. Along with successes, we also pulled off a breakthrough. However, this was toward the end of our planning process but tied it all together. We planned to incorporate a timeline that will give the students an idea on the time ranges of what occurred first that leads on to the next, all in chronological order. This allowed us to tie our lesson together with a timeline, photo journal, and the book. Finding the correct and reliable scholarly sources that will correctly give us information to display was definitely one of our biggest challenges. However, this was an easy fix due to the fact that we have the ability to access the Sacred Heart library website filled with credible sources. Through this planning process, I feel I learned a lot not just about the Civil Rights movement, but also on the aspects of being an educator. Within this profession, we have to make sure the material being taught is correct as well ensuring that the ways we teach are student-centered. One frustration Kelsey and I both faced, as said in previous posts, was finding beneficial ways to teach this sensitive but still extremely important time in history. Overall, our sources and the book we picked turned out to be the best way to teach this material making us both happy with the way we came up with our plan.
