Hi, Everyone, welcome to my third blog post! I hope you are as excited as I am to talk to you about “The Tell-Tale Heart” by Edgar Allen Poe. I understand that Poe is really morbid and creepy, but they are very important underlying themes that can be found in his stories, but we will only be focusing on this story today. My partner and I have created a lesson plan for this story so get ready to dig deep and start thinking about possible themes and lessons that this story is trying to send to its readers.
Our goals for this lesson is make sure the students understand the story so they will not only be able to answer questions, but they will also be able to reference the story and show explanations for their thoughts. We also want the students to tell us how the story makes them feel. The students should be able to say how the events that transpired in beginning of the story affected the ending of the story. More importantly, do you think these events impacted the ending of the story? Why or why not? The students should be able to develop their own thoughts about the narrator and any other characters involved in the story. To get a better idea of Poe’s style of writing they can refrence other pieces of his literature. They may be some recurring themes and lessons. Essentially, by the end of the lesson I want the students to be able to comprehend gothic literature and works from other romanticists like Walt Whitman. They should be able to do this independently with little help from the teacher or a classmate.
We have started our lesson plan and already outlined the initial initiation of the lesson plan. We have a very cute idea to get the ball rolling which will also help to get out students engaged and interested in the subject we will be teaching them about. We want to play an introduction video that with have a similar theme or lesson to the story that children can relate to. We are currently working on our lesson development and trying to piece together the activities that will be incorporated into our lesson. We will need about 4-7 more days to fully be completed with this project. We will work out the rest of the details in the next few days.
I am creating lesson plan because I feel that this is the best way to get my students engaged and fully be able to comprehend the material. Using things like Youtube videos will help them think about the subject at hand. Ultimately, I want to teach my children so they will gain a sense of independence and can gain the necessary skills to do this by themselves later in the future. If I can impact the life of just one student, then I have done my job correctly.

The Tell-Tale Heart is coming from an academic website where books and different works of literature can be accessed. It is coming from our college library so it is a credible source that contains some of Poe’s works of literature. We decided to use this because we needed a website to supply us with the story being that we did not have a copy of it. We will use this source as a teaching tool by giving a copy to every student to read.
Interpersonal and intrapersonal intelligence source is coming from an academic source. Even though they are coming from different sources, they are both from academic journals who have studied mutiple intelligences. We decided to use it because these two intelligences are included in our project. They did a great job of explaining that and we hope to mimic that with our students.
The Naturalist intelligence source is coming from a website that explains the intelligences. This is credited because it is coming from a corporation who has studied this information as well. We decided to use it because we are talking about this intelligence in our project. We want to help the children relate to something as they will be able to do that with nature and animals.
The Spatial intelligence source is coming from a website that explains the intelligence and how it affects education. This is perfect because this relates to our project. As teachers we need to see how intelligences affect students differently. We will discuss this in the project as well.
